JOB SUMMARY
The Engineer III is responsible for the development and execution of field projects to address geological conditions resulting from hydrotechnical, erosional and/or natural ground movement that may be impacting or have the potential to impact pipeline operations.
This position will manage multiple projects simultaneously across ONEOK’s operating footprint, collaborating with Operations across the various business units. Project budgets ranging from <$100,000 to >$1,000,000. The Engineer III responsibilities include developing project cost estimates and budgets, forecasting and tracking project expenses, leading engineering consultants in the development of project mitigation designs, communicating clear scopes of work to contractors to safely execute project designs in the field, and reporting on projects in a timely manner to ensure compliance with environmental and other regulatory agencies. This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule which requires an in-office presence 3 days a week.
Job Profile Summary
Directs and performs an advanced level of engineering and/or project management duties related to one or more functional areas that may include: riverbank stabilization; engineered support structure design and/or maintenance; pipeline lowering, pipeline depth of cover correction, soil erosion repair, road improvements; and/or project cost controls and estimating; project design; and coordinating construction projects.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Direct and/or perform engineering and/or project management activities related to design, procurement, or construction of company assets including but not limited to:
Project Safety and Environmental Compliance
Construction plans and implementation related to outside forces such as:
Hydrotechnical: vertical scour, channel migrations, flooding
Geotechnical: landslides, slope creep, karst, subsidence, mining
Seismic activity: faults, liquefaction, lateral spreading
Land usage
Management of third-party contract resources
Perform and review project management activities including but not limited to:
Management of third-party engineering design consultants
Design development
Preparing bid proposals and contracts
AFE preparation and cost management
Management of Change (MOC)
Material/equipment specifications and selection
Construction job plans and construction support.
Creating and updating schedules / timelines
Preparing project progress and other reports
Contract management
Collaboration with internal Real Estate Services and environmental resources
Developing and reporting KPIs
Research, analyze, prepare, and/or approve information including but not limited to:
Engineering studies
Governmental rules, regulations, codes, and standards
Pipeline analyses and recommendations
Engineering calculations
Construction contracts
Cost estimates.
Material specifications/selections
Make recommendations for improvements related to capacity, operating costs, and system operation.
Identify opportunities for improvement and develop and implement new processes as requested by management, with limited supervision.
Anticipate change in work demands and identify assignments or training to meet those demands.
Oversee utilization of workforce and equipment resources
Assess, schedule, and prioritize projects on customer needs and value to the organization.
May have oversight of employees engaged in field operations, construction and/or project management function.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and/or the following job-related experience preferred.
Work Experience
Experience and knowledge regarding pipeline integrity project management.
Experience and knowledge regarding construction management related to pipelines.
Experience and knowledge of civil engineering and/or related project management.
Experience and knowledge of engineering design as it relates to refined products, crude oil, natural gas and/or natural gas liquids in pipeline systems.
Experience at this level is typically attained with seven or more years of experience in engineering, operations and/or project management.
Experience achieving goals and developing employee/team strengths, exhibiting a positive example and influence that leads to employee, project, and stakeholder successes.
Experience in use and function of applications such as: Microsoft Excel, Project, Access, Word, etc.
Experience researching and preparing project materials and design specifications, contracts, agreements, budgets, engineering studies, and other relevant reports, forms, and correspondence.
Experience identifying, researching, understanding, evaluating, and prioritizing operational problems and coordinating appropriate action/response.
Experience with and knowledge of pipelines or hydrocarbon processing and related facilities design, construction, operation, and maintenance
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of material failure and structural analysis and industry standards and governmental regulations
Knowledge of operational functions and commercial relationships with the ability to anticipate functional and transactional impacts
Ability to: read and interpret governmental regulations, blueprints, contracts, manuals, specifications, surveys, charts, load studies, and other relevant reports and correspondence.
Ability to: analyze and resolve issues and/or questions concerning engineering design and calculations obtaining assistance if needed on more complex design and calculations.

$110,000.00 - $164,000.00
